Federer enjoying life out of spotlight at French (AP)

PARIS – Roger Federer came to the French Open a little bit under the radar, more than happy to let the world’s focus land squarely on someone else for a while.

The way the 16-time Grand Slam champion is playing at Roland Garros, though, that’s quickly starting to change — especially with five-time champion Rafael Nadal and second-seeded Novak Djokovic already dropping sets in the early rounds.

Speeding bus hits 6 people in central Stockholm (AP)

STOCKHOLM – A bus raced out of control into a busy downtown square after the Stockholm Marathon Saturday, crashing down a set of steps, injuring six people and causing a panic among spectators, police and eyewitnesses said.

Djokovic extends perfect start at French Open (AP)

PARIS – Novak Djokovic extended his perfect start to the season at the French Open on Saturday, beating Juan Martin del Potro 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 for his 40th straight victory this year.

Djokovic has not lost in 42 matches dating to last year’s Davis Cup final. He and Del Potro returned to Court Suzanne Lenglen on Saturday after splitting the first two sets Friday before the match was suspended because of darkness.

LeBron ‘gracious, humbled’ by Jordan comparison (AP)

MIAMI – Scottie Pippen said LeBron James may be basketball’s greatest player ever.

Among those who disagree: LeBron James.

The Miami Heat forward provided his reaction to Pippen’s comparison between James and Michael Jordan on Saturday, essentially saying he was flattered by the sentiment but simply does not believe he’s done enough to merit mention among the game’s highest echelon.

Messi’s Barcelona beats Man United 3-1 in final (AP)

WEMBLEY, England – The debate is over now. Barcelona is on the list of soccer’s all-time greatest teams.

Led by another dominant performance from Lionel Messi, the Catalan club beat Manchester United 3-1 on Saturday to earn its third Champions League title in six seasons and No. 4 overall.
