There are two extremes to the Saints. The defensive players get it

The Saints swarmed Michael Turner and stuffed him at the line of scrimmage. It was just one play out of many in a physical game between players who readily admit they don’t like each other very much, but it was a big play.

Not only because it led to a 26-23 win that put New Orleans in the driver’s seat in the NFC South but also because the Saints stopped a big back using their goal-line package of five down linemen. They didn’t allow the Falcons to make a push. They were the aggressors, the ones who didn’t break. They got the stop they desperately needed, and quarterback Drew Brees and the offense did what they do best: move the ball and win the game.

Lucic received a minor penalty for charging on the play.

According to NHL rules on goaltender interference: “A goalkeeper is not ‘fair game’ just because he is outside the goal crease. The appropriate penalty should be assessed in every case where an attacking player makes unnecessary contact with the goalkeeper. However, incidental contact will be permitted when the goalkeeper is in the act of playing the puck outside his goal crease provided the attacking player has made a reasonable effort to avoid such unnecessary contact.”

Miller had harsh words for Lucic after the game.

Miller remained in the game but left after the second period with what coach Lindy Ruff called a sore neck. The Sabres revealed the concussion Sunday night when they said that they were recalling Drew McIntyre.

Miller had harsh words for Lucic after the game.

Lucic has “50 pounds on me and he runs me like that? It’s unbelievable,” Miller said. “Everyone in this city sees him as a big tough solid player. I respected him for how hard he played. That was gutless.”

Meanwhile, law enforcement sources told ABC News that the Sandusky case “has generated a strong public response.” Sources said the case “has generated multiple leads” and “information from the public” that has required state police to commit additional investigative resources to the case.

Sandusky, 67, is free on $100,000 unsecured bail.

The ex-coach is accused of assaulting eight children over a 15-year span. His attorney has said he’s innocent.

The scandal led to the departure of university president Graham Spanier and the dismissal of legendary head coach Joe Paterno after law enforcement officials said they didn’t do enough to stop suspected abuse when it was reported to them in 2002.
